When we were asked to carry out extensive renovations and draught proofing to 50+ sash windows at the Snape Malting’s development near Aldeburgh in Suffolk, we saw an opportunity to showcase our skills and have our work monumentalised at one of the most beautiful and notable sites we had worked on to date. World famous for its concert hall and hosting the annual Aldeburgh Music Festival, the Snape Malting’s project was an impressive site to arrive at and be a part of.

 

We set to work rebuilding some of the most ornate and impressive windows a carpenter could hope to leave his mark on. Using bespoke timbers and many hours of labour we restored each window back to its former glory whilst subtly modernising them to ensure a draught free and smoothly working set of windows.

 

As the pictures show some of the windows were uncommon, to say the least, and the clock tower windows were a particular challenge, each was different from the last and required a great deal of care, attention, and skill to achieve the renovation they deserved.
