The craftsmanship is outstanding — the new windows are beautifully made and blend seamlessly with the originals, preserving the character of the property while significantly improving performance.

Installation was carried out to a very high standard. The team — Adam, Ricky, George, and Gary — were professional, efficient, and clearly took pride in their work. Attention to detail was evident throughout, and everything was left clean and tidy at the end of each day.

Gary and his wonderful team (George, Nick and Jack if I remember correctly) replaced our 120 year old Edwardian sash windows for exact modern double glazed replicas and we could not be more pleased. Can sash windows be repaired rather than replaced?

In most cases, yes. Rot, frame damage, and operational faults don’t automatically call for full removal, and assuming the worst before a proper look is taken wastes money. Because the work required varies significantly from one property to the next, each window is assessed on its own before any recommendation is made. We only advise work that is genuinely needed. Repairing rather than replacing preserves your building’s original character, extends the life of the windows, and costs considerably less than starting from scratch.

Can rotten sash windows be repaired?

Minor to moderate rot is repairable in most cases. Timber splicing and specialist repair compounds that bond properly into the existing wood are two methods we use regularly, and they hold well when applied correctly. Where only a single section has decayed, that section is removed and replaced while the surrounding frame stays put. This limits scope and cost at the same time. If deterioration is too far advanced for repair to make sense, we’ll say so plainly.

How much does sash window repair cost?

It depends on the number of windows, how much damage there is, and what each repair specifically involves. Minor work costs a fraction of full replacement. Before anything begins, you’ll receive a written quotation that breaks down per-window recommendations in plain terms. No vague estimates. Nothing appears on the final invoice that wasn’t discussed with you beforehand.

How do I know if sash windows need repairing?

Draughts, rattling, sticking sashes, cracked paint, difficulty opening, and water getting in are all signs worth acting on. Left unaddressed, these problems worsen, sometimes fast once moisture reaches the timber and begins spreading to adjacent sections or the ironwork. Catching it early keeps the job contained.
