Overview
Ickworth Estate, one of Suffolk’s most recognisable National Trust landmarks, is celebrated for its striking Rotunda, sweeping parkland and rich architectural history. Sash Window Preservation was appointed to undertake specialist restoration works to the estate’s historic windows, ensuring they remain true to the building’s character while meeting modern performance expectations.
Our conservation-led approach focused on sensitive repair, careful material selection and traditional craftsmanship — all delivered by our skilled in‑house team.
The Project
Working closely with the National Trust, our team carried out extensive refurbishment, repair and glazing upgrades across selected windows at Ickworth House. The aim was to retain as much original fabric as possible while improving functionality, thermal efficiency and long-term durability.
Every intervention was guided by heritage best practice, ensuring the building’s architectural significance was respected throughout.

Sash Window Restoration

Where original timber was beyond repair, new components were crafted in Accoya — chosen for its stability, longevity and suitability for heritage environments.
Specialist Glazing Solutions
Slim-profile double glazing was introduced in selected windows to enhance thermal performance while maintaining the building’s historic sightlines.
